We celebrated KatC’s birthday with KyuMin vanilla cupcakes and carrot cupcakes (no photo). For some reason, she doesn’t eat carrots. I knew I wouldn’t be able to convince her to eat the carrot cupcakes so I made her a batch of vanilla cupcakes with her OTP’s faces on ‘em.
Note: The video is not mine. I think one of the judges took this.
In the last two weeks, we have transformed our office reception area, pantry and a little bit of the production area into Mario’s Magical Mushroom Kingdom. We set up two giant aquarium-type sets, decorated the hallways, built a make-shift live-action set, turned the other part of the pantry into a castle and the production area into a racetrack. We even had some skits prepared and everything. Check it out.
Halloween. That’s (partly) the reason I haven’t been Tumbl-ing lately. A couple of weeks ago, I became part of the office events committee; I say, “became part of” because I didn’t exactly volunteer but it turned out to be a good thing.
This year’s theme is Electronic Games and given a list of eight or so video games, we had to choose a game and decorate the office. After much deliberation, we ended up with Super Mario and in the following weeks we planned, budgeted, procured supplies and transformed part of the office into the Mushroom Kingdom.
I wish I could’ve done a before and after thing but posted below are the photos. Trust me when I say that when we finished, the office looked nothing at all like our usual reception area, hallway and pantry.
Upon alighting from the elevator, you’d see the front door decorated to resemble a GameBoy.

and through it’s “screen”, you’d see this:

Inside the reception area, you’d see the first “set”

and behind it is the second.

(^That is an awesome make-shift pipe, btw. It has a pulley and everything.)
Turn right and you’d see the hallway.

Turn to the left and you’d see the left side of the pantry was converted into a stage where we had Mario perform a live-action skit (I’ll post a video right after this).

The right side of the pantry, on the other hand, had a castle. This is where the other skit took place.

After that, our Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach would lead the audience through the production area (decorated as a racetrack) where they will be greeted by shrooms and pipes cheering and handing out candy.

To be honest, at first, it was all about winning for me — It’s a pride thing. It was a competition (between the different TR offices in McKinley Hill) and having been given a very important role in this, I wanted nothing more than to win but after seeing everyone (the cast and crew especially) do a great job, I forgot about the nerves and the judging and the competition. I was happy that they were happy and that was enough.
And today, er, yesterday, I woke up to find that we had won first place. TR Legal has won the Halloween decor competition (or whatever they call it) for the third year in a row and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of everyone. From the props to the set-up to the long hours clocked in after shifts (a special shout out to my own team who stayed extra long hours past our 10pm shift to work on the sets), it was really a group effort. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with and a better office to work for.
